Marilyn joined inQbator in 2005, with responsibility for the management of portfolio services. Her role includes the administration of the investment process, from deal flow through evaluation to investment documentation; providing support to portfolio companies; and participating in a regular review of the investment portfolio.
Marilyn assists inQbator and the iQ Fund 1 portfolio companies with governance and compliance with the Corporations Act and ASIC requirements, as well as R&D tax concession claims and implementation of employee share plans.
She has taken on a similar role in iQ Capital Management since its establishment in 2007.
She has a background in quality assurance and business improvement, and prior to joining inQbator was Manager of the Business Improvement Unit at the Gold Coast Institute of TAFE (GCIT), responsible for managing the Institute’s formal Quality Systems and maintaining compliance to several external international and national standards, including Quality Assurance standard AS/NZS ISO 9000:2000, the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) – a national education standard for the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector, and the Australian Vocational Education and Training Management Information System Standard – a national enrolment data quality standard for the VET sector. In 1995 Marilyn was a member of the team responsible for achieving GCIT’s initial certification to AS/NZS ISO 9001 when GCIT was one of the first institutes in the vocational education and training sector to achieve certification.
Marilyn has been a member of several local and state working parties, the most recent of which was the Community of Practice for Equity and the AQTF, which was responsible for the design of a state-wide process for the implementation of the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act in the broader context of access and equity in the VET sector. Other positions and experience include:
• Faculty Coordinator, Faculty of Technology at GCIT 1996-1997 and 1999-2002
• Conducted a Quality Assurance consultancy business for SMEs 1996-1998
• Extensive experience as a lead auditor of AS/NZS ISO 9000 1994-2004
• Administration officer in the Public Relations Department at GCIT 1993-1994
Her qualifications include MBA with Distinction from Griffith University (2003).
Marilyn will complete a Graduate Diploma in Applied Corporate Governance with the Chartered Secretaries Australia in 2008.
